ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY OF TRANSPORTATION. PRELIMINARY RESEARCH
ERI LIIKENNEMUOTOJEN ENERGIANKULUTUKSEN VERTAILU. ESITUTKIMUS
Energy efficiency for road- and street-, railway-, air- and water transportation is estimated both in passenger and freight modes. Energy efficiency is calculated by dividing passenger or ton kilometres by energy consumption. Each mode has a traffic technological area of use of its own. The mode's ability to form a system is affected by traffic technological properties and structural properties of the community. Energy efficiency will not directly express the energy economy of the mode. (TRRL)
