EVOLUTION OF BINDERS AND BITUMINOUS MIXTURES ON THE ROAD

EVOLUTION SUR ROUTE DE LIANTS ET ENROBES BITUMINEUX

The authors describe long-term follow-up studies carried out on bituminous samples taken from experimental sections. The samples differed by the nature of the binder and the structures in which they were placed. This article mentions the application of tests cited in others parts of the publication: tension at different temperatures and rates, resistance to fatigue in alternate bending, measurements of the complex modulus. Simultaneously the evolution in the binders was studied by observing the penetrability, viscosity, fraas point and asphaltene content. Relations are established between the mechanical characteristics of the bituminous mixtures and the binder characteristics. (TRRL)
