ASPECTS OF NOISE AND VIBRATION PREVENTION IN TRANSAXLE - DRIVE SYSTEMS

ASPEKTE DER GERAEUCH- UND VIBRATIONSBEKAEMPFUNG BEI TRANSAXLE-ANTRIEBS-SYSTEMEN

Because of the unusually extensive space requirements of transaxle units, certain vibration problems are more pronounced than in the case of compact drive units, which make the manufacture of certain assemblies necessary. The paper gives an insight into this manufacture and the results obtained; thus two vibration dampers were introduced at the side of the engine to reduce the low frequency movement of units which affect driving comfort, the axle bearings were fitted with an external and an internal elastic ring to improve body sound insulation: the gear lever was located in an area with relatively low vibration, fixed in a foam mounting. The head of the gear lever was likewise strongly constructed and isolated from the gear lever by means of rubber insulation.
