TRIAXIAL TESTS ON BITUMINOUS MIXTURES UNDER REPEATED LOADING OR CREEP CONDITIONS

ESSAIS TRIAXIAUX SUR ENROBES BITUMINEUX EN CHARGEMENT REPETE OU EN FLUAGE

The author describes the tests and shows the influence of various parameters: load application time, temperature, rest period, vertical stress, constant or sinusoidal lateral stress. The results show that: (1) it is the overall loading time which determines permanent deformations, independently of loading frequency; (2) a lateral sinusoidal stress does not add anything more than a constant lateral stress; (3) rest periods have no effect; (4) it is simple to go from static creep tests to dynamic creep tests; (5) the rate of creep is not constant during the test. /TRRL/ covering abstract, see IRRD abstract no 107043.
