LONG SPAN BRIDGES CONSTRUCTED IN CONCRETE
WEITGESPANNTE BRUECKEN IN BETONBAUUEISE
An attempt was made to illustrate the current state of the art of large span bridge construction and to make a closer study of trends observed. Some correlations were discovered which lead to increased efficiency and also help to fulfil aesthetic requirements. After 50 years of development the most important feature to be noted in the various systems is that industrialised methods now take precedence. This reliance on proven techniques is also to be welcomed on safety grounds. (TRRL)
