THE ROLE OF GRAVEL-POZZOLAN-LIME MIXTURES IN ROAD CONSTRUCTION

LA PLACE DES GRAVES - POUZZOLANES-CHAUX EN TECHNIQUE ROUTIERE

The gravel-pozzolan-lime technique was tested in 1968 in the puy-de-dome region, then its use was extended to coordinated strengthening operations and construction of new pavements for heavy traffic. Since its beginning the manufacturing and laying technique described in this article has followed the evolution in equipment. The material can be placed in wet weather and without traffic interruption. The behaviour of pavements comprising a gravel-pozzolan-lime base is satisfactory. Long-term performance is good despite slow setting. (TRRL)
