Connecting to Compete 2018: Trade Logistics in the Global Economy - The Logistics Performance Index and Its Indicators
This paper describes the Logistics Performance Index (LPI) and its indicators, which provide a cross country and in-depth evaluation of the logistics gap that exists among countries. The LPI is conducted every two years by the World Bank and is a worldwide survey of global freight forwarders and express carriers. In this 6th edition, supply chain performance data is presented for more than 100 countries. Sections include: trends over the past four reports, LPI scores and ranks 2012-2018, supply chain reliability, and how the LPI motivates reform. Key findings of the 2018 LPI index demonstrate that there is still a large gap between LPI scores for high- and low-income countries; logistics performance correlates with quality of service; and infrastructure is a shared concern across all performance groups.
