POLLUTANT EMISSIONS AND FUEL CONSUMPTION DURING THE WARMING-UP OF PETROL ENGINES
SCHADSTOFFEMISSIONEN UND KRAFTSTOFFVERBRAUCH BEIM WARMLAUF VON VERGASERMOTOREN
The area of the warming up of petrol engines, in respect of exhaust pollution, requires great improvements. Simply the fact that much of the traffic, particularly in the conurbations, is operating with engines insufficiently warmed-up, makes remedial measures urgent. The authors report on the experiments carried out during the warming-up period with a medium size car engine at the Institute for Combustion Machines and Motoring of the Technical University of Vienna, in order to reduce exhaust concentration values, exhaust quantities and fuel consumption.
