The competition consisted of three main demands. (1) The noise levels in dwellings should not exceed 30 db (a) indoors and 55 db (a) outdoors counted as equivalent day-level, (2) The road network which at the present state shows a lot of shortcomings, shall be given a good standard. The gcm-roads shall manage the guide lines of rigu. The foot-paths and the cycle tracks shall be taken into special consideration, and (3) the suggested measures shall be co-ordinated towards a better environment by co-planning of land, vegetation, traffic system and measures against noise. The answers of this competition can be divided into six groups: (1) considerable screening close by road. (2) Screening off houses. (3) No considerable screens close by road. (4) Priority of landscape. (5) Combinations of solutions. The winning proposals belonged to the groups 2 and 4. The competition was concerning the area around Rotsunda in the suburbs of Stockholm.
