LORRY TYRE TEST RIG FOR DETERMINING THE PERFORMANCE GRAPH UP TO THE LIMITING BOUNDARY AREAS

The new 40 kn higher test rig is a measuring device which makes it possible to study lorry tyres under simultaneous tensile and lateral forces and by describing also the large oblique transit angle makes it possible to obtain feedback on the wheel actions in driving/dynamic boundary cases. The work on the special research problems, which are concerned particularly with dynamic processes arising between the vehicle wheel and the pavement, will require the following extensions to the test rig (1) the introduction of a drum of 2.5 M diameter; (2) control system for the dynamic wheel load processes and oblique - angle changes; (3) introduction of a slip - controlled wheel brake device of high capacity to study the tyre properties under stationary and non-stationary brake manoeuvres; (4) the coupling of a computer for programmed performance curve production and diagram illustrations.
