FROM THE FIELD OF SAFETY RESEARCH
AUS DER SICHERHEITSFORSCHUNG
On the basis of studies (reproduced briefly in the report) - of typical collisions, safety research workers at Renault pose the question whether an individual test, the "standard crash" from the USA is adequate for complex safety technology evaluation of vehicle structures and whether this should be replaced by numerous tests with various angles of impact (briefly described) in order to obtain more realistic values. In this, however, export policy considerations play an important role, as the USA adheres firmly to the "standard crash". (TRRL)
