THE FUTURE OF THE LINER INDUSTRY
Trends are outlined such as technical and organizational improvements. Ship sizes and fuel costs will increase, but speed will not and crews will diminish. A doubling in cargo volume is foreseen but improved efficiency will lead to a less than proportional increase in tonnage. Containerization will reach to some 80 per cent. Order from NSFI as No. 18958.
