EXHAUST GAS CONTROL AS AN ACTIVE CONTRIBUTION TO ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
AUTOABGASKONTROLLE ALS AKTIVER BEITRAG ZUM UMWELTSCHUTZ
The worldwide problem of pollution of the atmosphere caused by motor vehicles was observed also in the city of Zurich. The total emission of pollutants during 1975 is estimated at about 30000 tonnes. The values of CO emission of vehicles in traffic were checked again this year using a Mathak Kompakt-Unor apparatus in accordance with the current regulations. The results were classified according to type and age of the vehicles. The percentage of passenger cars in which the Co-content of the exhaust gases during idling exceeded the permissible limit of 4,5% by volume fell from 32,4% in 1974 to 21,5% in 1976. (TRRL)
