CREEP OF PRESTRESSING STEEL. DEVELOPMENT OF A PROTOTYPE AND TEST PROCEDURES

FLUAGE DES ACIERS DE PRECONTRAINTE - MISE AU POINT D'UNE MACHINE PROTOTYPE ET DE LA PROCEDURE OPERATOIRE D'ESSAIS

This article gives the results of investigations into the development of the prototype which were carried out prior to the systematic testing of prestressing steel. The validity of the proposed test procedures is also discussed. The tests were carried out on prestressing steel 5 mm in diameter. The results obtained with the prototype were compared with some obtained with an apparatus of the "weighing scale" type. It appears that the prototype and its ancillary equipment give reliable and accurate results. Furthermore the proposed test procedure is applicable to tests conducted with both types of apparatus. Some deviations observed in a number of tests carried out with different machines remain to be explained by means of further tests. (TRRL)
