APPLICATION OF THE THEORY OF PLASTIC CONSOLIDATION TO THE DESCRIPTION OF THE BEHAVIOUR OF A CLAY SOIL BEFORE FAILURE

O PRIMENENII TEORII PLASTICHESKOGO UPROCHNENIYA K OPISANIYU DOPREDEL'NOGO POVEDENIYA GLINISTOGO GRUNTA

The author explains the principles of modelling a soil by the theory of plastic consolidation which takes account of the path to be followed in order to achieve a limit state of stress and deformation. He proposes an equation of the loading surface which takes account of the parameters of stress and deformation of a soil sample. He describes an experiment carried out to determine the characteristics of this surface and the manner in which it is approximated. (TRRL)
