ROAD/AMENITY CLASSIFICATION PROCEDURES - A PRACTICAL APPROACH FOR USE IN EXISTING CITIES
This paper presents a description of procedures developed and tested for determining a practical road/amenity classification to be used for transportation management in existing cities. It is of necessity, a comprehensive but relatively straight forward process which addresses the issue of responsibility for decision-making, makes explicit the inherent conflicts which must be dealt with and provides a clear base strategy for more detailed management action relating to vehicular, cycle and pedestrian traffic.
