CALCULATION OF THE ADAPTATION OF PERFECT ELASTOPLASTIC STRUCTURES

SUR LE CALCUL A L'ADAPTATION DES STRUCTURES ELASTOPLASTIQUES PARFAITES

In relation to finite freedom structure, the author recalls some results concerning the problem of quasi-static evolution in perfect elastoplasticity and in small displacements. The study of the asymptotic properties of these solutions justifies the selection of a definition of adaptation among those proposed in the literature. The theory of adaptation is briefly recalled. The calculation of adaptation is dealt with in relation to linear programming. The use of sub-structuring techniques lead to linear programs which can be subdivided and to a simplified method of calculating a reducing factor for the safety coefficient permitting a 20 to 30% increase in calculation for an overall error (in favour of safety) of 15 to 25%. This method is of very flexible use when several sub-structures are identical and/or can be modified during the project phase. (TRRL)
