ADAPTATION OF REGRESSION CURVES IN ASPHALT CONCRETE PROJECTS

ESTUDO DE ADAPTACAO DE CURVAS DE REGRESSAO EM PROJETOS DE CONCRETO ASFALTICO

The research described by the author was performed to investigate, through experimental observation, which mathematical equations best describe the relationships that exist between the percentage of liquid asphalt and the values obtained in hot-mix asphalt concrete. Values include stability, viscosity, density, voids, and asphalt-void relationship. The author used a regression technique in testing 48 samples of hot-mix asphalt concrete (36 surface mix, and 12 binder mix). In addition, he tested 25 samples of cold asphalt mix. The resulting equations were developed and the respective coefficients of correlation calculated. According to the author, in almost all cases, the best adjusted regression curve was the one corresponding to a parabolic type of equation. (Author)
