COLOURS AND COLOUR-TOLERANCES ON INTERNALLY ILLUMINATED TRAFFIC SIGNS

FARBEN UND FARBTOLERANZEN BEI INNENBELEUCHTETEN VERKEHRSZEICHEN

Traffic signs which are illuminated from the inside are used for traffic guidance on junctions where retroreflective traffic signs are not sufficient. Such traffic signs hold their colour during the day by the reflection of the natural daylight and at night by their illumination from the inside. Thus the colours of such traffic signs have no problem in daylight, but when illuminated from the inside some of the colours do not conform to the international standard. Recommendations for the colours and colour tolerances of traffic signs are presented. (TRRL)
