GUIDE FOR THE EVALUATION OF HUMAN EXPOSURE TO WHOLE-BODY VIBRATION. SECOND EDITION

GUIDE POUR L'ESTIMATION DE L'EXPOSITION DES INDIVIDUS A DES VIBRATIONS GLOBALES DU CORPS - DEUXIEME EDITION

This second edition cancels the first. It defines and gives numerical values to exposure limits in the case of vibrations transmitted to the human body through solid surfaces in the 1 to 80 hz frequency range. It can be applied within this range of frequencies to periodic vibrations and to random or non-periodic vibrations in a continuous spectrum. Provisionally it can also apply to "impact"-type continuous excitations insofar as the energy is transmitted at frequencies between 1 and 80 hz. These limits are given for applications corresponding to the three general criteria to be adopted with a view to ensuring comfort, working capacity, safety or health. They are specified in the form of vibration frequency, acceleration level, exposure time and vibration direction as related to the torso. This standard applies only to persons in normal health. No part of the standard can be extrapolated for frequencies outside the 1 to 80 hz range. (TRRL)
