FORECASTING OF MODELS. ORATION DELIVERED ON ENTERING UPON THE OFFICE OF EXTRAORDINARY PROFESSOR
VOORSPELLEN OVER MODELLEN. REDE UITGESPROKEN BIJ DE AANVAARDING VAN HET AMBT VAN BUITENGEWOON HOOGLERAAR
Mathematical models are often applied in traffic engineering. One of the main areas of application is the making of forecasts for future traffic. In this lecture attention is given to the forecasting of models. The questions which society will ask now or in the future and the kind of problems for which models of traffic engineering are used are first studied. Thereafter the use of mathematical models in the future is estimated by means of an analysis of the traffic problems of today. (TRRL)
