A Development of the Integrated CCTV Management System for ITS

KEC (Korea Expressway Corporation) operates 5,800 CCTV sets on the expressways in Korea for monitoring traffic flows and finding traffic incidents. It was very difficult to take care and maintain the CCTV systems in good condition from the CCTV operation center to the field CCTV cameras with a few engineers. For enhancing the abilities of CCTV management, KEC has developed the Integrated CCTV management system. The Integrated CCTV management system collects and analyzes the MIB status information using SNMP and RTSP protocol from the CCTV subsystems including controller, L2 switch, encoder, decoder, CCTV distribute server and control server. After analyzing the MIB status information of CCTV system, the Integrated CCTV management system reports to the O&M staffs the results such as cable disconnections, packet losses, frame losses, CCTV subsystem malfunction and the statistical analysis of the status history. With the results the O&M staffs could make an action through the online remote access to maintain the CCTV system properly. With the statistical results the O&M staffs could possibly prevent the expected failure and make a replacement plan for another CCTV nearby.
