CRASH TESTS AND EVALUATION OF HIGHWAY APPURTENANCES--VOLUME 1. SIGN AND LUMINAIRE SUPPORTS
A comprehensive program of full-scale automobile crash tests of highway appurtenances and evaluations of their performance was conducted. Testing was conducted in accordance with fundamental requirements of NCHRP Report 153. 2250 and 4500-lb automobiles were used. The program reported herein was conducted to evaulate certain pieces of hardware, and to provide data for validation of theory and correlation with laboratory tests. Data from these full-scale tests were provided to ENSCO, Inc., for use in development of laboratory test procedures under Contract DOT-FH-11-8118. (FHWA)
