Investigation into the Potential of Heat Release Controlling and Each Energy Loss Reduction in a Heavy Duty Diesel Engine Equipped with Multiple Injectors

マルチインジェクタ搭載大型ディーゼルエンジンにおける 熱発生率制御の可能性およびエネルギ損失低減に関する研究

Heat release rate controlling and simultaneous reduction in NOₓ and smoke emissions were achieved by using the new combustion system which is a single-cylinder heavy-duty diesel engine equipped with three injectors (multi-injector). However, it is revealed that the heat release rate by the side injector was slower than that of center injector especially at the end of combustion. In this study, multi-injection from the center injector was attempt for expanding operating range to a high-load operation in order to shorten the combustion period. Furthermore, the mixture formation and combustion process in the cavity were observed by a bottom view visualization system. By the combination of higher boost pressure and precise heat release rate controlling to suppress the maximum in-cylinder pressure in constant, which resulted in heat loss reduction together with brake thermal efficiency improvement, and simultaneous reduction in NOₓ and smoke emissions even in a high-load operation region.前報にて,複数のインジェクタから任意のタイミングで燃料を噴射させることで熱発生率を制御し,また,局所当量比が低減できるためNOxとスモークの同時低減が可能であることを示した.本報告では,運転範囲拡大を図ると同時に,新燃焼コンセプト実現性を確認するため,混合気形成の様子を可視化観察した.
