NOISE CAUSED BY MODES OF TRANSPORT

BRUIT DU AUX MOYENS DE TRANSPORT

After briefly summarizing some basic concepts of acoustics, the authors study the noise produced by road, air and rail traffic, examining both the sources of noise emitted by various individual vehicles and overall traffic noise. Information of a more specific nature, such as the properties of the sound produced, its propagation in the atmosphere, the measurements of noise and ways of defining them is contained in three appendices.
