Global Street Design Guide

Most public spaces in cities are designed for cars, this guide focuses on street design for all road users especially taking into account the needs of pedestrians and public transit users. Input from over 40 countries and 70 cities informs the design guidance and best practices. Social, economic, and environmental impacts of various design are considered. Sections include: (1) About Streets: This section focuses on defining streets, implementing design, and measuring and evaluating streets; (2) Street Design Guidance: This section looks at design elements and operations; and (3) Street Transformations: This section includes case studies from around the world illustrating street and intersection design. In addition possible street and intersection reconfigurations are suggested with before and after descriptions.
