ELASTIC ANALYSIS OF SOIL-FOUNDATION INTERACTION

Results of analyses of the interaction between structural foundations and supporting soil can be used to design foundations and analyse soil deformation. The book describes the elasticity aspects of soil-foundation interaction concentrating upon advances in theoretical and experimental research. Methods of soil-foundation interaction analysis are introduced in the following chapters: (1) introduction to soil-foundation interaction problems, (2) idealized soil response models for the analysis of soil-foundation interaction, (3) plane-strain analysis of an infinite plate and an infinitely long beam, (4) the analysis of beams of finite length, (5) axisymmetric three-dimensional problem of an infinite plate, (6) analysis of finite plates, and (7) the determination of soil parameters, experimental investigations and field studies.
