COLOURS OF LIGHT SIGNALS
COULEURS DES SIGNAUX LUMINEUX
The report specifies the CIE recommendations for traffic signals in terms of limits of chromaticity chosen as a compromise between feasible recognition of the colour, reasonable visual range and practical precision in manufacture. The limits are recommended for international adoption, but national specifications may be adopted with narrower limits if these appear desirable to conform to national practice. The recommendations apply to traffic signals used by all transport modes whether by highway, rail, sea or air, as well as to advertising signals and to colour codes in general. (TRRL)
