Analysis of Near-miss Incidents between Left-turning Vehicles and Bicycles Crossing at Signalized Intersections


In order to develop driver support systems that help prevent vehicle-bicycle accidents, it is necessary to examine vehicle and bicycle movements that lead to unsafe driver behavior and subsequent near-miss incidents. In this study, the authors analyzed near-miss incidents involving left-turning vehicles and bicycles crossing at signalized intersections using the incident database collected with drive recorders. They classified data from 227 incidents into 11 patterns based on characteristics of unsafe driver behavior and bicycle movement. Concerning three major patterns, the authors investigated both driver observation form and pedal operations which caused near-miss incidents.ヒヤリハットデータベースを用いて,信号交差点における左折自動車と横断自転車との事故・ヒヤリハット事例を分析し,227件の事例を11種類に分類して各分類の割合を調べた.さらに,今後の事故対策に向けて,特に割合の高かった分類について,自転車挙動との関係を含めた不安全運転行動の詳細を解明した.
