Shape Optimization of Engine Intake Port by using Adjoint Method

Adjoint 法によるトポロジ最適化技術の開発とエンジン吸気ポートへの適用

With the shape optimization technology based on the modification of surface geometry of base shape, the final shape might not achieve target performance depending on initial shape. In this study, in order to resolve this issue, the authors developed topology shape optimization technology by using adjoint method, which can roughly derive the shape near the optimal shape considering target function in design space. Present technology was applied to design of engine intake port to achieve a balance the maximization of flow rate and that of tumble vortex. As a result, topology optimized shape which has various performance according to the weighting factor of cost functions was obtained.従来の形状最適化技術では,初期形状によってはいくら変形を繰り返しても目標の性能を持つ形状が得られない可能性がある.そこで本研究では,設計空間において目的の性能を考慮した最適形状に近い形状を大まかに導出可能なAdjoint 法によるトポロジ最適化技術を開発した.本手法の吸気ポートへの適用事例を紹介する.
