Are non-infrastructural-based travel plans effective? Initial results from a randomised controlled trial in Singapore
This study seeks to investigate the impact of non-infrastructural-based travel plans on travel patterns and attitudes towards sustainable travel modes in the context of residential relocation in Singapore. Specifically, a randomised controlled trial was carried out on a pre-existing residential development and a brand new residential development. The bigger study aims to uncover whether individuals experiencing residential relocation respond more strongly to the travel plans compared to existing residents in nearby proximity who are not experiencing a similar life event. In this paper, the authors report the effect of travel plans on existing residents. Their results suggest that travel plans may be persuasive in encouraging this group to consider new active travel modes.
