Hotel Accommodation Impacts on Air Itinerary Choice
While a great deal of studies have been carried out on measuring the relative importance of different air itinerary and socio-economic attributes on itinerary demand prediction, no study have been carried out regarding the impact of other attributes such as hotel accommodation on air itinerary choice, especially in Iran. The primary focus of this study is to measure the impacts of hotel accommodation on air itinerary demand. In this respect, multinomial logit and mixed Multinomial logit models were estimated based on stated preference survey from Iranian passengers travelling from Tehran to Istanbul through Imam Khomeini airport. The results suggest that adding hotel to air itinerary can influence air itinerary choice and share. Furthermore, brand of airlines, departure and returning time from destination, price, possibility of travel on desired date, trip purpose, travel experience and gender are statistically significant explanatory variables which have impact on itinerary share.
