Disabled people’s travel behaviour and attitudes to travel
The main findings of this research were that: 1. disability is an important factor for explaining individual travel behaviour and changes in behaviour over time; 2. disabled people should not be viewed as a uniform group, as travel behaviour and attitudes vary according to individual characteristics such as the: a. age of the individual; b. level and type of disability; 3. the behaviour and experiences of disabled people vary across different modes of transport, and different disabilities are associated with differing use of different modes of transport. The project examined travel across multiple modes of transport including: car, rail, bus, taxi, cycle, walking and aviation.
