The report presents the results of a national survey of annual automobile travel in Canada in 1976. Automobile travel by trip type, mode and purpose is surveyed and reported by community type, total household income and geographic region. A total of 717 household interviews were completed. The full income range was sampled only in Ontario; elsewhere all interviews were undertaken in middle income areas only. The objective of the survey was to obtain information about how people use automobiles, in such a way that basic household characteristics can be used for forecasting. (TRRL)
