COORDINATION OF GENERAL LAND-MOBILE RADIO COMMUNICATIONS

SAMORDNING AV ALLMAENNA LANDMOBILA RADIOKOMMUNIKATIONER

This report consists of a summarizing discussion of users' different alternatives of action for the future need of mobile radio. The different alternatives of action are: (1) a wholly integrated system where the stationary line commutator and radio station network are common to all users. (2) further use of separate radio networks with no or little co-ordination between the networks. (3) co-ordination of separate radio networks with respect to frequency. A comparative estimation of the alternatives of action is leading to a proposal that a radio communication system, common to the users, should be developed and built up. From the year 1987 the system is proposed to be available in the whole country (Sweden), whereupon the users successively are estimated to connect until 1995. The costs for the stationary parts of the system (wire connections, line commutators etc) are proposed to be covered by subscription fees and traffic fees from the users and by special subsidies. Mobile equipment and stationary equipment are owned by customers. (TRRL)
