ANOTHER MODERN CLUTCH RELEASE BEARING

AENNU ETT MODERNT URTRAMPNINGSLAGER

The design of a clutch release bearing must be such as to prevent wear on the disc spring. This wear is chiefly due to direct steel-to-steel contact, and to lack of alignment between the back of the housing which supports the bearing and the axis of rotation of the spring. In a new design by skf, the alignment problem is solved by fitting a rubber sleeve inside the inner bearing ring. The self-aligning property of the bearing also reduces noise and vibration emanating from the gearbox. This type of bearing has been used in cars since the beginning of 1978 by a French manufacturer.
