Performance evaluation of a urea-selective catalytic reduction system in a marine diesel engine
A numerical simulation of the droplet distribution at the exhaust duct for a static mixer and injection location was performed for marine selective catalyst reduction. Through experiments with this auxiliary marine urea-selective catalyst reduction system, the ammonia slip, selective catalyst reduction system pressure drop, and NOx reduction rate in accordance with the space velocity (i.e. engine load) were investigated. Under incremental and random experimental conditions, the ammonia slip of this urea-selective catalyst reduction system is below 3?ppm, which satisfies International Maritime Organization Tier III regulations.
