Life Cycle Assessment Framework of Traffic Systems Based on Microscopic Simulation
This report describes a framework to mitigate the environmental impacts of highway traffic systems. The framework used modeling tools to evaluate the impacts of new developments and to justify the needs for intelligent transportation systems and more resilient infrastructure. The framework was tested with a case study simulating the traffic of Moscow, Idaho. Impacts of the optimized traffic simulation were compared with current traffic to evaluate the environmental benefits of traffic improvements.
