ON THE MANOEUVRABILITY OF A CONTAINER SHIP WITH QUADRUPLE PROPELLERS

From model test results, it was made clear that the effect of approach speed upon the manoeuvrability was considerable, even if the approach speed was less than 0.35 in Froude's number, and it was caused mainly by the heel of the model in turning. In addition, the effect of initial heel and the number of rudders upon the manoeuvrability and differences of the manoeuvrability between the above mentioned container ship with quadruple propellers and that of container ships with single, twin and triple propellers were discussed.
