PRESENT CONDITION AND FUTURE PROSPECTS OF AUTOMOBILE RESEARCH IN JAPAN

In the past decade, the Japanese automobile industry has experienced a rapid growth and it is common knowledge that during this time, Japanese automobile manufacturers have solved a number of technical problems through their intensive research and development activities, while also making considerable contributions to the automobile industries of other countries. The article examines the principal themes of research programs currently in progress at each of the major automobile research organizations in Japan, in order to determine the present status of such research and discuss their future prospects. /TRRL/
