TRAFFIC EDUCATION WITH SCHOOLS TELEVISION

VERKEHRSERZIEHUNG IM SCHULFERNSEHEN

Traffic education is now establishing itself as part of the schools television service. The fundamental work is carried out both from school and media viewpoints. Details are determined today according to KMK recommendations and to primary school guidelines. The programmes, which are centred upon the activities of pedestrians, cyclists and moped drivers, assume partial functions within the learning process. The nominated television stations follow the same general learning objectives: provision of age-related basic traffic knowledge, stimulation towards the practice of the required sensomotoric skills, preparation for anticipatory behaviour and motivation for proper traffic and social conduct. In relation to the productions, the value of specific elements (documentary film, trick film elements) are of particular interest. Finally plans for future school years are described. In this connection the wish is expressed that there should be greater reactions from teachers and students. /TRRL/
