DISC BRAKES FOR BUSES AND COMMERCIAL VEHICLES

SCHEIBENBREMSEN FUER OMINIBUSSE UND NUTZFAHRZEUGE

The application of disc brakes in commercial vehicles can make a further contribution towards increased traffic safety due to the more stable braking force of the disc brake, its superior thermal properties and the implementation of true anti locking of the braking unit. When braking from high velocities above 100 km/h, the disc brake has proved itself to be clearly superior to the drum brake because of its higher thermal shock stability. Finally, the disc brake yields a noticeable reduction in maintenance costs for the vehicle manager, since replacement of the brake lining and the associated down-time of the vehicle are reduced to a fraction of the costs which are required for a drum brake. /TRRL/
