FUTURE TRENDS OF BULK CARGO CARRIERS

Data are given for the international bulk carrier fleet by tonnage and country, the British bulk carrier fleet, and the British ore carrier fleet. Future trends in world trade in ores and other bulk cargoes are surveyed. Conclusions are given as to the sizes of bulk carriers predominating in the near future, with consideration of the problems of the cost of cargo handling equipment and availability of deep water ports.
