A NOVEL FINITE ELEMENT METHOD FOR PRELIMINARY DESIGN OF SHIP HULL FORM AND FOR CALCULATING HYDROSTATIC PARTICULARS

The determination of the hydrostatic curves is discussed, and the finite element method (FEM), the usual "Lagrangian" interpolation (ULI) and modified parametric "Lagrangian" interpolation are chosen to demonstrate the possibilities of "FEM" interpolation. The advantages of this method over the other two are shown. Some applications are considered.
