ON THE EFFECTS OF FIN STABILIZER AND RUDDER TO ROLL REDUCTION

The results obtained in this study are summarized as follows: 1) The effect of fin stabilizer to reduce roll is confirmed to be remarkably large both in regular and irregular waves. 2) For the fin stabilizer control system, both proportional and rate control are very effective. 3) The use of rudder for roll reduction is found to be effective, but at the same time large yawing motion is caused by the rudder.
