MEASUREMENT OF PRESSURES ON A BLADE OF A PROPELLER MODEL

Pressure distributions over the surface of a blade have a close connection with cavitation. Therefore, researches on the relationship between cavitation and pressure distributions over the surface of the blade have been made. The measurements of pressure distributions over the blade of the propeller model was carried out using a new measuring system including very small pressure gauges made of semiconductor. The experiments were conducted under three conditions, that is, the noncavitating condition in the uniform flow, the noncavitating condition in the nonuniform flow and the partially cavitating condition in the uniform flow. The experimental results are compared with calculations by the lifting surface theory.
