To ensure fast loading and unloading of ships, a variety of load units such as palletized loads, containers or piece-goods have to be considered, since it is only on some runs that containerships can be loaded to full capacity with containers only. The equipment of ships with ships portal cranes, sidehatches, bow and stern ramps for combination piece-goods, pallets and containers service provides for loading and unloading operations being carried out optionally by dockside cranes, ships cranes of fork lift trucks.
