RURAL CONCRETE ROADS: THE FRENCH EXPERIENCE

ROUTES RURALES EN BETON: EXPERIENCE FRANCAISE

The author briefly outlines the characteristics of the rural road network in France and describes concrete roads in that category. In spite of their low mileage, these roads are built on a wide variety of soils thus enabling useful lessons to be learnt. Details are given of the mix-design, manufacturing process and laying of the concrete together with various types of deterioration, mostly of not too serious a nature, which have occurred on these roads.
