ASSESSING WALKING CHARACTERISTICS AS A MODEL FOR INVESTIGATING THE INTERACTION BETWEEN ALCOHOL AND MEDICATION

At the Gdansk Medical Academy Institute for Forensic Medicine a study has been carried out into the psycho-physical performance ability of the human body under the influence of small doses of phenactil and alcohol. The results illustrate the value of applied photographic methods for assessing walking characteristics. Mainly stride is measured, followed by variations of the head position in the horizontal plane. Much less importance is attributed to head movements in the sagittal plane and the length of the double stride. The investigations carried out which confirm objectively the interaction between small doses of phenactil (= chlorpromazin) and alcohol, can form a model for similar assessments of the synergism of other medication in connection with alcohol considering different time intervals and quantities.
