HOW TO EDIT A MACHINERY OPERATING MANUAL

This is an account (in English) of the proceedings of a symposium, held by the M.E.S.J. in Feb. 1978, at which four papers were presented on the subject of the preparation of operating manuals for ships' machinery. In a brief introduction, it is mentioned that when a new ship is delivered it is accompanied by an oeperating manual for the main engine, auxiliary engines, boilers, etc., in which these components are treated as individual units, and there remains a requirement for a simple publication on the operating procedure for the complete plant as a whole. The papers presented deal with this requirement, and are: 1) Outline of Engine Plant Operation Manual. Fujita, H. (5 p.; and Discussion: 1 p.). 2) Main Engine, Shafting. Kuroda, K. (9 p.; and Discussion: 1/2 p.) 3) Electic Power Generating Plant. Okada, K. (9 p.; and Discussion: 1/2 p.). 4) Steam-Generating Plant and Auxiliary Machines. Nakamaru, T., and Sawai, H. (19 p.; and Discussion: 1 p.). Order from BSRA as No. 51,823.
